D.C. continues to see unemployment decrease

For the 7th straight month joblessness in the District has dropped to about 8.7 percent in September. Although still above the national average of 7.8, the numbers show an optimistic trend in the city and throughout the country. A drop from 8.8 percent in August to 8.7 percent in September means that 300 more D.C. residents found work.

Mayor Vincent Gray, has credited his jobs incentives policies and regional economic developments with the drops in unemployment, but insists that there is still a lot of room for improvement. Areas that require specific attention and job creation include SE neighborhoods on the Anacostia River.
