D.C. advocacy group wants Heart Attack Grill closed

An anti-meat advocacy group, based in D.C., wants the owner of a Las Vegas, NV restaurant to close after a 40-year-old customer suffered a medical episode and was hospitalized. The restaurant, Heart Attack Grill, prides itself on providing unhealthy meals to its customers. Officials for the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine sent a letter to the restaurant’s owner, Jon Basso, on Thursday asking him to “declare moral bankruptcy” and shut down the restaurant.

The group’s director of nutrition education, Susan Levin, reported that the incident should be a realization that bypass operations aren’t funny. Basso reported that other restaurants have experienced similar occurrences and high obesity rates in the country shows that doctors have failed the American public. He has no plans to close his restaurant.
