Officials reported that a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent was killed after a workplace argument erupted into gunfire at the agency’s office in a California federal building. ICE officials told ABC News that the incident at the Glenn M. Anderson Federal Building in Long Beach, CA, involved an ICE agent opening fire at a fellow on Thursday night, leaving a fellow hospitalized in stable condition, and with multiple gunshot wounds.

Steven Martinez, assistant director in charge of the FBI’s Los Angeles office, said, “This situation began with what we can characterize as an incident of workplace violence.” A third ICE agent was involved by firing at the initial shooter, Martinez reported. “This resulted in the death of the shooter. At this time, we believe this was an isolated incident and the shooter was acting alone.” One of the agents died at the scene, while the second agent was transported to a local hospital in stable condition, and the intervening agent was unharmed, officials reported. Special agent in charge of ICE’s Homeland Security Investigations in Los Angeles, Claude Arnold said, “We are like a family. When something like this happens, it affects us all.”
