Nick Cannon’s health scare causes him to step down as radio host

Nick Cannon, the 31-year-old host of “America’s Got Talent,” went to the hospital last Friday for tests and doctors found that he had two blood clots in his lungs, he told his radio show listeners on 92.3 NOW. Doctors unveiled that Cannon’s immune system was attacking his organs and the condition was aggravated due to his extensive work travel. Cannon reported that he also had an enlarged ventricle on his heart and along with his previous condition, made him more prone to the blood clots. “If it isn’t one thing, it’s another,” Cannon said. Cannon was hospitalized for mild kidney failure while vacationing with his wife, Mariah Carey and their twins, in January.

Cannon will also step down as host of his daily radio morning show. In a statement, Cannon said, “Under doctor’s orders, I have been asked to put my health first and cut back on some of my professional commitments in order to allow my body to get the rest that it needs to keep up with the demands of my multi-tasking schedule. It has been an absolute pleasure working with CBS RADIO and the 92.3 NOW morning show team and I would like to thank them for their unwavering support. I will continue to host my syndicated “Cannon’s Countdown” weekend show and look forward to contributing to 92.3 NOW whenever possible. Even Superman has to sleep.”
