Tri-county parkway closer to being built

0

A parkway being built connecting Loudon and Prince William counties, which has been in debate for 30 years, is closer to being realized. The project, called the tri county parkway would run along the northern edge of Manassas Battlefield National Park. The parkway is designed to help people travel from Dulles airport to interstate 95. The original proposition had the parkway going through the national park, but a secondary bypass is being proposed that will not directly affect the battlefield.
When the parkway is completed both roads that go through the battlefield would be closed permanently. Although the parkway would not be completed until 2035, and during that time the traffic in the battlefield is estimated to increase. It’s unclear how much that increase will be. An agreement for construction could be completed by the end of this year, but there has been no talk for funding the project as of yet.
