Two U.S. Senate candidates from Virginia have endorsed a proposal requesting Virginia take over the board that oversees Metro D.C.’s two airports. On Tuesday, Republican George Allen and Democrat Tim Kaine said they support legislation offered by Representative Frank Wolf, R-Va., that would reduce the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority and give the state of Virginia control of the regional board, according to The Washington Examiner.

The current board is managing construction of the $8 billion Metrorail extension to Washington Dulles International Airport. On Tuesday, Allen said Kaine’s appointees “have caused a lack of trust in the board.” However, Kaine’s spokesman said Allen is playing politics by faulting Kaine for the board’s issues.
