The U.S. National Slavery Museum property in Fredericksburg, Virginia is in danger of being auctioned off.
A Caroline County judge issued an order for the auction after the intended sale of the museum land to a private buyer was unsuccessful.
Former Governor L. Douglas Wilder sought to open the museum, but plans fell through as funding was severely limited. The museum currently owes over $350,000 in back taxes.
Plans for the auction were announced Wednesday, but according to Wilder the museum will submit an appeal.
