Fire set on minister’s home viewed as hate crime

Chesterfield County police are investigating whether a hate crime was committed against Minister O. DeShea Cuthrell after his house and car were set on fire early Wednesday morning.

Cuthrell claims his dog awoke his family at 4:30 a.m., which is when he noticed his porch engulfed in flames with the N-word written across it. Cuthrell noted a new spark within him to combat hatred and racism. He plans to relocate his family, as he no longer feels safe in his current neighborhood.
