Lindsey Vonn is injured during training

Lindsey Vonn recently returned to training from an injury where she tore her ACL and MCL and fractured her tibia. Then, on Tuesday, the Olympic skier crashed during training at Copper Mountain in Colorado. She underwent an evaluation by her doctor, but it is not clear whether her knee was re-injured.

Vonn has been dedicated to preparing for the winter Olympics in Sochi, and whether this injury impacts her chances there, she will undoubtedly do whatever she can to participate. Before the season began, Vonn said: “I would love to win as many World Cups as possible but my main focus is definitely on the Olympics. If I start off slow, it’s fine I just want to make sure that by the time I get to Sochi that I’m 100% in those events.”

Vonn’s doctor, Bill Sterett, even said that he gets nervous watching her race, especially after her brutal accident in February, but he knows that any injury won’t put her down for long. “What makes her and most of the girls on the team unique is they’re so driven and they have such short memories,” Sterett said to USA TODAY Sports. “If you or I fell the way she fell and then somehow that same year, you were in a starting gate and had to go 70 miles down a hill out there with nothing but Lycra on and a helmet, you’d be a little scared. They have no fear. They don’t remember the fall, all they remember is winning.”
