The former NFL star Deion Sanders was fired from the charter school he co-founded, Prime Prep Academy, because of accusations that he assaulted an employee. The Dallas Morning News reports that Dallas police are looking into the accusations made by Kevin Jefferson, who described an encounter with Sanders after he expressed discontent with the class performance of certain school athletes.
Jefferson told reporter Tanya Eiserer about the incident that occurred after a verbal argument: “He walked back to the back of the classroom to where I was sitting in a desk. As he got closer to me, I stood up because he was kind of standing over me and he just kind of kept talking to me and at me and then he just grabbed me by my throat and kind of threw me to the ground. Some people had to get him off of me.”
However, Sanders denies that the scene got physical, saying that he and Jefferson were simply having a disagreement. Police will talk to other staff members to try to get to the truth of what happened.
