Alabama’s Crimson Tide defeated Louisiana State University in the Bowl Championship Series Monday night, with a score of 21-0. Alabama kicked five field goals to become the college football champions. Alabama’s defense kept LSU from gaining any headway, holding them to only five first downs for the duration of the game.

Alabama kicker Jeremy Shelley hit the five field goals that gave their team a 15-0 lead, and it was running back Trent Richardson who scored a 34-yard touchdown in the last five minutes of playing time. “It was great team win. Our defense did a good job. Our offense controlled the momentum and our special teams played well,” Alabama coach Nick Saban said.
