President Barack Obama announced Monday that White House Chief of Staff Bill Daley will step down. He will be replaced by Office of Management and Budget Director Jack Lew. Daley will remain in his job until after the State of the Union address, through January. Daley instead will serve as co-chair for Obama’s re-election campaign.

Daley, who has previous experience working as a campaign chair for Al Gore in 2000, made the decision to step down as Chief of Staff in order to spend more time with his family. “There is no question that I’m going to deeply miss him by my side here at the White House,” Obama said.
