Obama and George H.W. Bush host volunteer event

President Barack Obama and former President George H.W. Bush will host a volunteer event in the White House on Monday to award the Daily Point of Light Award as well as celebrate a milestone for the award. During the event, the 5,000 Daily Point of Light Award will be given to Outreach founders Floyd Hammer and Kathy Hamilton. The couple started the organization to fight world hunger after a visit to Tanzania.

The Daily Point of Light Award began during Bush’s administration and has become the world’s largest service organization coordinating volunteer projects. During the event, President Obama will also announce a new federal task force which will help Americans to find more ways to volunteer.
