GOP candidates face off in Las Vegas

Emotions ran high in the Republican debate in Nevada Tuesday night, with harsh attacks directed at former Godfather’s Pizza executive Herman Cain, former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney and Texas Gov. Rick Perry. Romney and Perry traded verbal barbs over the issue of immigration, with Perry interrupting Romney and refusing to allow him to respond. Perry had been slipping in previous debate performances, but it is unknown if his aggressiveness in Tuesday’s debate helped or hindered his campaign.

Attacks were also issued at Herman Cain’s 9-9-9 plan, with candidates calling it simplistic and risky. One candidate was absent from the debate, former Utah Gov. Jon Huntsman, who chose to boycott because of a dispute between Nevada and New Hampshire’s primary calendars.
