A police officer who was part of President Obama’s motorcade was killed by a pickup truck on Friday. Bruce St. Laurent was an officer of over 20 years at the Jupiter police department. “We didn’t lose a co-worker. We lost a friend,” Scott Pascarella, who is the Jupiter spokesperson, told reporters. “He would do anything for anyone.” No charges have been filed against the driver of the f-150 pickup truck, who hit St. Laurent on I-95 as he was trying to close down the highway for the president.
Obama is campaigning in Palm Beach for the 2nd consecutive day as part of a bus tour. He did not see the accident but was notified and later said “our thoughts and prayers are with the officer’s family.” St. Laurent earned Distinguished Service Award by the Traffic Safety Committee of the Palm Beaches.
