Dematha students expelled for hiring prostitutes

Five football players at Dematha Highschool were expelled over the weekend after they bought prostitutes while at a Holiday Inn at North Carolina. The students were not starters on the team but all of them were minors. They bought the prostitutes after using a call service, said two sources, one of them being a parent of the expelled student. “The school community is saddened and hurt by the actions of these few who do not reflect the character of the community,” Principal David McMahon told reporters in a statement.

It’s unclear how the school discovered the incident, but once it did they conducted an investigation and notified authorities and the five students. Police have approached the Holiday Inn, which is owned by Larry Turner. Turner said that the players were chaperoned adequately, and that “we received no complaints,” he said. “We have since been approached by law enforcement, and we are cooperating in their investigation.”
