Police have charged Robert Gladden Jr, a 15 year old student at Perry Hills high school, with attempted first degree murder and first degree assault. He is being charged as an adult. Gladden came to the first day of school with a 40 year old double barreled shotgun, 20 rounds of ammunition, and a bottle of vodka. On the morning of the shooting he posted on facebook “”First day of school, last day of my life. … f— the world.” He is being held without bail.

Witnesses say Gladden entered the cafeteria and fired a shot towards a lunch table. The shot hit the back of 17 year old Daniel Borowy, who is still in critical condition and being treated at Maryland Shock and Trauma Center. Teachers rushed Gladden, and in the ensuing struggle another shot was fired into the ceiling. Reports say Jesse Wasmer, who is a guidance counselor at Perry Hills, took the gun away from Gladden.  Gladden’s father confirmed that his son was the shooter, and also stated that his son was a victim of bullying, but left no further comments.
