Residents displaced in Montgomery Co. fire.

A fire in Montgomery County broke out at an apartment building in Silver Spring, injuring two firefighters and displacing two dozen residents. The fire broke out on the top floor around 12:30 a.m., authorities say, and was caused by unattended cooking on a stove. One firefighter suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries, while another suffered minor injuries.

Residents from at least eight apartments were displaced by the blaze. Two cats were killed in the fire.
