Janitors at Walter Reed report two weeks of no pay

0

The Services Employees International Union that represents janitorial workers at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, MD, has filed a complaint after  about 300 janitors failed to receive paychecks for the second week in a row. The contractor responsible for the janitorial staff told workers that they could  not make any payments because they had not yet been paid by the government. Therefore the union is also requesting that the government directly pay workers so that they can buy food and pay their bills. As late as Sunday evening, the union has agreed to continue working while the paycheck discrepancies are settled.
