Justin Bieber passes Lady Gaga for number of Twitter followers

According to TwitterCounter.com, 18-year-old Justin Bieber has surpassed his fellow superstar pop-singer Lady Gaga for number of Twitter followers. He has gained a slim lead, with 33.33 million followers versus Gaga’s 33.32 million, ending her two-and-a-half year reign as the most followed member of the site. Bieber was named by Forbes magazine in 2012 as the third-most powerful celebrity in the world and said such massive followings on the website should demand the attention of marketers. Britney Spears, who used to rule the Twitter roost, has fallen to sixth place for number of followers, behind Rihanna and Barack Obama with 26.17 million followers and Katy Perry with 31.49 million followers.
