The CW has picked up the online hit “Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog.” The musical tragicomedy was originally produced in 2008 exclusively for Internet distribution. The musical stars “How I Met Your Mother’s” Neil Patrick Harris, “Castle’s” Nathan Fillion and “Buffy the Vampire Slayer’s” Felicia Day. The show centers on Dr. Horrible (played by Harris), an aspiring villain; Captain Hammer (Fillion), his nemesis; and Penny (Day), their shared love interest.
“Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog” was directed and co-written by Joss Whedon, who created the popular T.V. series “ Buffy the Vampire Slayer” and wrote and directed the recent blockbuster hit, “The Avengers.” The musical is scheduled to air on the CW Oct. 9.
