Washington Post’s website is hacked

The Washington Post website was hacked, the newspaper announced on Thursday. The Syrian Electronic Army, a group which supports President Bashar Assad of Syria’s regime, has claimed responsibility for the attack. According to a statement by Washington Post Managing Editor Emilio Garcia-Ruiz, Washington Post readers were redirected to the group’s website when they clicked on some of the Post’s stories. This occurred for about thirty minutes on Thursday morning.

The SEA has credited themselves with a number of media attacks against groups they believe are sympathetic to Syrian rebels. They claim some of their previous attacks include the Twitter feeds of the Associated Press and BBC.
