Bill proposes drilling off Virginia’s shoreline

Virginia Senators have introduced a bill which would permit offshore drilling on the shoreline of Virginia. The Virginia Outer Continental Shelf Energy Production Act was presented by Senators Mark Warner (D-VA) and Tim Kaine (D-VA).

One of the first to oppose the bill is the Sierra Club of Virginia. They released a statement claiming that drilling could put 100,000 jobs at risk because of their dependency on the cleanliness of the Chesapeake Bay and other oceans and beaches in the area.
