WORLD NEWS – 11 workers killed, 75 injured after elevator falls 650 feet at South African platinum mine

An elevator dropped around 200 meters (650 feet) on Monday evening at a platinum mine in Rustenburg, South Africa killing 11 and injuring 75 workers. All of the injured workers have been hospitalized. 

“Today is the darkest day in the history of Impala and our hearts are heavy for the lives lost and the individuals affected by this devastating incident,” said Impala Platinum Holdings CEO Nico Muller in a statement.
