The nonprofit Virginia Living Museum has launched the Future Ready fundraiser program to raise $5 million over the next year. The campaign is a part of the museum’s 50th anniversary celebration, and has a goal of reducing its dependence on funding from Newport News. Other goals include a new animal care facility and promotion of science education among disadvantaged groups and active service families. So far, about $2.4 million has been pledged.
