Prince George’s County has appointed Samantha Howard as the new Latino Affairs Liaison. Howard was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico, and moved to Prince George’s County when she was seven years old. She has worked with student development across various departments throughout the community for over 20 years.

This new role aims to provide accessibility and inclusion for Hispanic and Latino residents in the community to excel, which Howard has first-hand experience navigating. “I want the community to know that I’m here and to know who I am and what I stand for and what we’re doing, and what our goals are and how to become engaged with that. And to just build those relationships,” Howard said. Her new role was announced on Sept. 7, ushering in National Hispanic Heritage Month which is celebrated from Sept. 15 – Oct. 15.
