Evidence of chemical warfare in Syria

Experts have detected deadly nerve agents, which are used to make chemical weapons, in Syria. This discovery of Sarin and VX sparks fear over Syria’s inability to disclose a weapon program when the nation joined the Chemical Weapons Convention in 2013. The Convention represented an agreement to destroy all chemical arsenals and in return would prevent a U.S. military strike response.

Second-in-command ISIS leader killed in airstrike on Mosque

The second ranking leader of ISIS was killed Tuesday according to the Iraqi Defense Ministry. The Pentagon does not confirm nor give support to the airstrike on the mosque in northern Iraq. The U.S. defense department spokesman reported that ultimately, the U.S. has not been able to independently verify the claim that the individual is dead.

Amtrak derailed traveling 107 mph

An Amtrak derailed Wednesday killing seven passengers and injuring more than 200 others. The train left Washington on Tuesday, but never arrived at it’s destination. The Naval academy says their Midshipman is among the dead.

Albuquerque opens lawsuit against Pedophile Priest the Vatican treated

The Vatican sent a priest from New England, accused of raping boys and stealing money from the parish, to be rehabilitated in New Mexico. The Albuquerque District Court says whilst in “treatment” he again abused a boy and was hired as a full-time priest.

Congress passes bill setting up national alerts when police are killed

The Blue Alert Bill passed both the House and Senate and is readily on its way to the President as of Tuesday evening. This bill is named to honor two New York City police detectives who were murdered in their patrol cars, in 2014. Supporters of the bill say this will ensure that vital information is communicated more effectively with the public and law enforcement agencies.

Recovery fund kickstarted for 350 businesses suffering from riots

Baltimore Development Corporation says approximately 350 businesses were affected by the recent riot ignited by the death of Freddie Gray. The non-profit organization will use a recovery fund to give loans with no interest to companies with “damage or inventory losses”. The loans may be converted to grants with certain circumstances met.

Children must be literate in environmental sustainability to graduate

Green politics strive to integrate environmental safety information with lessons plans. There is not a specific test to take or class to pass, but the literacy is a graduation requirement. The goal is to teach across all grades how actions can have a heavy impact on the environment and subsequently, themselves.

Tom Brady suspended 4 games and teams fined $1 million

According to an NFL press release, the Deflategate disaster has been resolved with Tom Brady suspended for the first four games of 2015’s regular season. However, the additional punishment doled out to Brady has the sports world on its head, with fans and the opposition surprised. The NFL claims their integrity is at stake and the position on the matter was justified.
