Prince William plans to leave the military service

Prince William announced that he will leave the military service to spend more time on his royal responsibilities and charity work. William has served more that seven years in the military, acting as a pilot in the Royal Air Force Search and Rescue Force. Since 2010, William and wife Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, have been living on the Welsh island of Anglesey, where William was stationed at the search-and-rescue base. However, the royal couple will soon move into their residence at Kensington Palace.

William’s duties with the military ended this week, but the defense ministry expressed their appreciation of his work, stating: “Throughout his tour his airmanship, often in the most demanding of conditions, has contributed directly to saving lives in the mountains of North Wales and from the ravages of the Irish Sea. He has earned the respect of all who have worked with him as a highly professional and competent pilot,”

According to a statement made by the palace, William has thought of “a number of options” for charity and public service work. He will certainly continue his conservation work, and will emphasis an effort to aid endangered species. Kensington Palace also announces that he will become the President of United for Wildlife, a collaboration of several environmental groups.
