Sentencing in the Oscar Pistorius trial has begun in South Africa. The process is expected to take about three days, involving testimony from witnesses who may wish the judge to lessen or to heighten the sentence. Pistorius was found guilty in September of culpable homicide in the shooting death of his girlfriend, Reeva Steenkamp. The conviction holds a possibility of up to 15 years in jail down to a combination of house arrest and community service. There are conflicting reports on whether Pistorius, a former Olympian, intends to resume his athletics career if possible.
