Women’s group deems Metrobus ad offensive

A woman’s advocacy group is calling a new Metro ad offensive and sexist.

The ad displays a conversation between two women.

The first woman says, “A Metrobus travels about 8,260 miles between breakdowns.  Didn’t know that, did you?”

The second woman responds, “Can’t we just talk about shoes?”

The co-founder of women’s group UltraViolet, Shaunna Thomas said, “The PR failure shows just how little Metro Forward thinks of its everyday passenger, and highlights how out of touch the system is with the DC-area residents that they serve.”

Thomas also called the ad “sexist, stupid and offensive.”

Metro received calls with similar complaints Wednesday.
