Water bills on the rise for residents in D.C.

Water bills for residents in the nation’s capital are set to increase. The average water bill for families in Washington, D.C. is about to increase by $5.73 per month. D.C. Water is boosting the price of water by 24 cents and increasing the price of sewer service by 30 cents for every 1,000 gallons of water used.

According to The Washington Examiner, the agency is using a 44 percent hike on a surcharge to assist funding of a 13-mile, $2.6 billion tunnel that will run from Northeast Washington to the District’s Water’s Blue Plains treatment facility.
