Schedule for D.C. hazardous waste disposal collection announced

The D.C. Department of Public Works announced Thursday the March 2015 schedule for disposing of household hazard waste, e-cycling and personal documents at the Ft. Totten Transfer Station. Residents can bring any form of waste, including: cooking oil, pesticides, pet flea control and cleaning fluids, to the transfer station on Saturdays in March from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The station will also accept computers, televisions and other unwanted electronic equipment for recycling. This Saturday only, residents can also bring up to five boxes of documents to be shredded. Household waste and e-cycling drop-off dates:  March 7, 14, 21 and 28 between 8:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. The next weekday household waste and e-cycling drop-off is Thursday, April 2. Every month, weather permitting, the Department of Public Works will accept household waste and e-cycling the Thursday before the first Saturday between 1:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. The transfer station is located at 4900 John F. McCormack Drive, NE.
