Reporter gunned down in Southeast D.C.

Police are investigating a fatal shooting that left a reporter for a local newspaper, dead. Benning Heights resident Charnice Milton was gunned down in the area of Good Hope and Naylor Roads at about 9:40 p.m. 27-year-old Milton’s death was one of four shootings that happened over just a few hours Wednesday night in Southeast D.C. The police acted immediately after hearing the sound of gunshots in the area and discovered Milton suffering from an apparent wound. Emergency crews transported her to a local hospital, where she later passed away. Milton worked as a Correspondent for the Capital Community News for more than three years. The Metropolitan Police Department is offering a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone who can provide useful information in relation to the crime.
