Rock legends Bruce Springsteen, Pete Townshend and Roger Daltrey (from 1960’s British group The Who) made appearances at the 11th annual MusiCares MAP Fund benefit Thursday night in New York City. Townshend and longtime Who manager Bill Curbishley were honored for their charitable efforts at the event. Springsteen, Daltrey and Townshend teamed up to perform a classic Who track “My Generation” at the Best Buy Theater in Times Square. They closed the performance with “Won’t Get Fooled Again,” and were joined onstage by Billy Idol and Willie Nile, who both hit the stage for solo sets earlier in the evening. Springsteen proudly presented Townshend with the Stevie Ray Vaughan Award for his time-honored commitment and dedicated service to the MusiCares MAP Fund. The program provides members of the musical community special access to addiction recovery treatment regardless of their financial situation. The organization raised a meager $26,000 back in 1992, but raised more than $37 million in 2014. A 1962 guitar that Townshend purchased from Daltrey was auctioned off for $41,000, both performers autographed it.
