Reopening of Ford’s Theater

Despite the government shutdown reaching its third week, Ford’s Theater is reopening through the help of private funding.

The announcement for the performance center’s reopening was made Tuesday and as of Wednesday the legendary theater will be back in business.

Ronald O. Perelman is responsible for donating $25,000 to the cause, which will fund the theater’s work for the next eight days.

Ford’s Theater is a historic site which marks the location of President Abraham Lincoln’s assassination.  The theater’s Lincoln Legacy Project will be putting on the performance “The Laramie Project” Wednesday, which pays tribute to the 15 year anniversary of the murder of gay college student Matthew Shepard.
