A 74-year-old D.C. pediatrician pleaded guilty to a child pornography charge in federal court Thursday.
Dr. Robert P. Dickey, who has been practicing medicine for decades, will receive his sentence December 17 for a single possession of child pornography. The former pediatrician could receive up to 20 years in prison, as well as a $250,000 fine. The U.S. Attorney’s office reported that he will also be required to register as a sex offender upon his prison release.
Dickey was caught red-handed looking at child pornography when police entered his home with a search warrant this past May. They recovered 130 child pornography images from his computer hard drives.
U.S. Attorney Ronald Machen Jr. says, “Dr. Dickey was entrusted to care for the well-being of children, but he instead chose to collect images of their sexual exploitation.”
