Fairfax County in ‘Molly’ mayhem

0

The street drug commonly known as “Molly”, is on widespread distribution in Fairfax County, Va.

In the last year and a half officers from the narcotics department in Fairfax reported an average of eight cases per month involving “Molly”, the nick name for the pure form of Ecstasy.  The drug is becoming increasingly popular amongst teenagers and young adults.

The county’s narcotics unit handled a total of 168 “Molly” related cases between January 2012 and August 2013.  The drug has also been deemed a factor in the August 31 death of 19-year-old University of Virginia student Mary “Shelley” Goldsmith.

Fairfax police hope to draw awareness to this issue and encourage parents to discuss matters of illegal drug use with their children.
