Richmond Mayor Levar Stoney has pulled out of the Virginia governor race. Stoney said that he would instead run for Lieutenant Governor. U.S. Rep. Abigail Spanberger is now the presumptive Democratic nominee.
In a video, Stoney said, “I’m running for Lieutenant Governor because I know that there’s too much at stake.” He continued, “The future of the Democratic Party is on the line. The future of the Commonwealth of Virginia is on the line. We saw what Glenn Youngkin did with his veto pen and that is why we need a united ticket moving forward.”
