Occupy activist protest at Capitol

Today in the District, Occupy Wall Street activists will take the movement to the Capitol for what is reported to become the largest gathering to date of the movement. Activists are coming to the Capitol from all around the nation. The protesters will assemble from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., affecting the morning commute in the city.

As Congress returns from a three-week holiday break, protesters plan to condemn the influence of corporate money in politics and demonstrate real democracy to the House of Representatives. “We need to be there en masse as soon as they begin their legislative session to let them know that they’re not going to waste another year,” read a statement posted on the Occupy Congress website.
