Mayor Gray is reserved to sign a bill that would designate an ombudsman to investigate and void wrongly issued parking and traffic tickets in the District. The bill is being promoted by AAA Mid-Atlantic, who claim Mayor Gray has already signed the bill. Before, some drivers say it has taken up to two years to get their cases heard, but now ticketed drivers can re-submit their cases to the hearing examiner if new evidence is available, the need to recover additional evidence or an error was committed by the original hearing examiner. The hearing examiner has 180 days to issue a decision. Once a decision is made, the driver can still appeal his or her ticket.
