The Washington Nationals won game four of the National League’s division series Thursday evening, forcing the defending World Series champions, the St. Louis Cardinals, into a deciding fifth game that will be held in D.C. on Friday. A ninth inning home run from the Nationals’ Jayson Werth ended the game with a score of 2-1. Over 44,000 fans at Nationals Park celebrated this extension of their team’s winning season after several years of disappointment.

Werth, who rounded the bases with a triumphant gesture of “number 1,” and the rest of the Nationals team will play the Cardinals again on Friday to determine who will go on to play the San Fransisco Giants for the NL title.
