Lobbyists push for increase in DC minimum wage

District of Columbia activists are putting forth a star effort towards increasing the district’s minimum wage.

Mayor Vincent Gray, along with the D.C. Council, is in favor of raising minimum wage, but lobbyists are rallying for a wage of at least $12.50 an hour, while Councilmember Vincent Orange has hopes of an $8.25 to $11.50 an hour range.

If the union leaders achieve their goal, D.C. would have the highest minimum wage in the country.  They are scheduled to discuss their platform Tuesday outside of the district government building.
