Harry Thomas Jr., a former D.C. Councilman, is required to replenish the District of Columbia $353,500 in losses. On Thursday, a federal court judge specified the amount in a statement. Lawyers for the government and Thomas agreed to $353,500, which led the judge to decide that was the amount he should repay. The judge chose not to require Thomas to replenish another $90,000 that was diverted at Thomas’ direction from a city drug program to pay for a 2009 inaugural ball.

D.C. Attorney General Irvin Nathan said he regretted Thomas was not ordered to pay more, but was pleased Thomas will have to provide a “substantial restitution.” Thomas gave up his council seat after chargers were filed. In May, he was sentenced to serve more than three years in prison.
