D.C. Council analyzes ambulance response

Washington’s fire chief, Kenneth Ellerbe, is scheduled to provide testimony before a D.C. Council committee on Thursday. Ellerbe will explain why a seriously injured police officer had to wait over 15 minutes for an ambulance.

Ellerbe’s testimony comes shortly after a statement was made expressing no confidence in the firefighter union’s leadership. Continuous incidents within multiple departments raise questions of whether enough resources are being provided for the high number of emergency calls.

Certain individuals have been cited for the lack of ambulance response in the police officer case, but the District’s inspector general has found many less than sufficient fire trucks as well.
