According to the Secret Service, a man scaled a White House fence and sauntered uninvited into the executive mansion before being caught red-handed inside carrying a folding knife is expected to take a plea deal. The man, identified as Omar Gonzalez, is expected to appear in federal court in Washington on Friday. When Gonzalez and his lawyer were last in court back in February, the lawyer, David Bos, stated attorneys were close to resolving the case with a plea and that he expected his client to accept it at Friday’s hearing. He did not specify what the plea deal would entail. The September 19 incident contributed to the resignation of Secret Service head Julia Pierson. Gonzalez is an Army veteran from Copperas Cove, Texas.
