Orbital Sciences is looking to Virginia officials for help with repairs to the state-owned launch pad damaged in October’s unexpected spacecraft crash. The crash was caused when an unmanned commercial supply rocket exploded in midair moments after launch. Investigations later revealed the use of former Soviet materials by Orbital Sciences. The launch pad is self-insured by the state. Orbital is in talks with the state and NASA regarding the repairs and the financial risk to the state going forward.
