Prison van crashes, leaving 9 injured

According to Virginia State Police, the driver of a van carrying eight inmates in Caroline County was transported to Mary Washington Hospital for serious but non-life-threatening injuries Thursday afternoon, after running off the road and hitting a tree. Seven of the inmates were transported from the scene for treatment of minor injuries while one was treated on the scene. The 1994 Dodge Ram 350 passenger van was heading eastbound when it veered off the right side of the road and hit a tree. Police are trying to determine what caused a van to crash.
