Poll reveals Virginians attitudes on gun control

0

In a new poll of Virginians conducted by Quinnipiac University reveals some surprising and telling numbers regarding attitudes on gun-control in a state that hosts the National Rifle Association. Overwhelmingly, Virginians polled in support of closing the loop hole in which buyers at huge, private gun shows do not have to undergo background checks. Bills to close the gun show loop hole have failed several times, thwarted by republican legislation. A majority of Virginians also support armed police officers in schools, but most do not favor allowing teachers to carry weapons. The survey showed that overall, Virginians do not oppose a national ban on assault rifles or large capacity magazines, and generally consider the sale of such items a danger to society. On the issue of gun ownership, a small majority said that they think guns help keep people save.

Virginians will have a chance to vote on closing the gun show loop hole this year.
