Officials ordered Uber & Lyft to stop all rides in Va.

The Virginia’s Department of Motor Vehicles issued Uber and Lyft a ‘Cease and Desist’ order. These two popular alternatives to taxi-cabs are similar to, but rely solely on using your phone to book, track, and pay for a ride. But according to the Department o Motor Vehicles, Uber failed to obtain authority before operating in the commonwealth. The DMV also issued a civil penalty against the company for collecting money for transportation services. Uber said hopes to continuing to work with Virginia in finding a permanent home for ride-sharing in the Commonwealth.
