The national zoo has been celebrating the African-American community since 1891. Many activities, such as an Easter egg hunt, live entertainment, and animal demonstrations took place on Easter Monday.

One family expressed their excitement about the event and were thrilled that families of other ethnicities joined in with the activities.

Donald Moore, associate director of the national zoo, believed over 20,000 people were expected to attend the event.
